Hello again

Community Supported Agriculture

A small group of us went to a meeting at the Friends meeting house in Nottingham on 19th February to hear about Community Supported Agriculture. The talk was organised by Transition Nottingham and presented by the Soil Association.

There are a number of organistions looking to change the way that farmers relate to consumers and that food is produced. We heard how farmers markets, vegetable boxes, consumer buying groups and organic farming could be used to transform the way our society deals with the production and distribution of food. These activities could be used by the transition towns movement to build local enterprise and reduce our existing dependance on the current oil based food system.

A couple of our party are working on launching a social enterprise here in Newark. The enterprise intends to be be growing and distributing food in Newark later this year.

More details to follow.
